Meet Chip
Making my COMMUNITY better everyday…
My name is Chip Coldiron, and I am running to give Hoosiers in Northeast Indiana a voice they can trust in Washington. I was born in Allen County and raised in Wells County where I live today. I am a public school teacher at the same high school I graduated from, an Army Veteran who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, and a former health care worker who has served both the Bloomington and Parkview health systems. Most importantly, I am a husband, a father, and a neighbor committed to making our stretch of Northeast Indiana a better place to call home, to raise a family, and make an honest living.
I decided to run for Congress after my wife and I saw our out-of-pocket medical bills for our son’s annual treatment increase from $300 to $3,000 overnight due to a small change in our insurance. The Affordable Care Act has allowed thousands of Hoosier families like my own to receive health insurance despite pre-existing conditions. When I was researching our current representative’s position to see if he could be helpful, I saw he had voted to repeal the protections for pre-existing conditions that my son relies on, and decided to make sure that next time a family in Northeast Indiana finds themselves in a difficult situation, they have a partner in Washington who they can trust to work toward a solution.
I have spent the last 22 years serving my community. It is why I pursued a career in health care while studying at St. Francis and Indiana University, working to put myself through school. It is why I enlisted in the Army and served overseas protecting the freedoms and opportunities we hold dear when duty called after graduation. And it is why I returned home to be a public school teacher to make sure the next generation has the knowledge they need to succeed in a changing world. I have always believed it was on each of us to leave the world better off than we received it, and that is why I am asking you to put your trust in me to serve our community in Washington.
In a time when our country is more divided than ever, we need to have confidence that our elected officials are there working for us, and not themselves. We’ve had enough of a Congress that works for political insiders and not the voters who elect them. We’ve had enough of self-serving career politicians putting their own ambitions ahead of the needs of their constituents. And we’ve had enough of failed policies being handed down from Washington without real input from the people most impacted by them.
If I am elected, I will work to deliver better health care, better jobs, better schools, and a better future for Hoosiers. But most of all, I will be a voice you can trust to listen and take to heart the duty of a representative. I will take seriously the role I play as the employee hired by Northeast Indiana voters to serve their interests in Washington. I hope you join me in this effort.
